Campus

The church, which was founded in 1967, met in borrowed and rented space until our original building was constructed in 1972. A pre-school wing was added in 1975, a new sanctuary was built in 1997, and substantial renovations to the original building were completed in 2005.

As you view our campus from the parking lot, our original building is on the right hand side, and our present sanctuary is on the left hand side.

One of the prominent features of the original building is the use of open spaces. At the time of its construction, Balmoral’s congregation expressed a desire that church space be adaptable and that walls be eliminated where practical.

Our sanctuary was designed to reflect the values and characteristics that are essential elements of worship at Balmoral. The sanctuary suggests openness. In part, that openness is characterized by the large window which allows light into our worship. This wall of glass reminds us that our worship and work are not confined to this building and points us to our responsibility in the world outside.

One of our highest priorities in designing the sanctuary was to create acoustics which would enhance the music that is so important to our worship at Balmoral. We purposely chose to use chairs rather than pews for our seating, primarily because it allows us to be more adaptable. We believe all of these characteristics reflect our long-time values of adaptability, simplicity and informality.

Most of the woodwork in the sanctuary was hand-made by talented members of our congregation. Another member created seasonal stained glass hangings for the sanctuary’s window on the world. Other members made the flock of origami birds suspended from the sanctuary ceiling. These works of art are examples our commitment to creativity and personal involvement at Balmoral.

Our grounds include an ample, well-lighted parking area, with visitor and handicap spaces near our primary entrances. The outdoor recreation areas are spacious and include fields for children’s T-ball, youth and adult softball, and for soccer play. We also have a modern, fenced play area for preschool children.
