Worship services on Sunday morning are the heart of church life for the Balmoral community. We gather in the sanctuary to adore God, to celebrate the risen Christ and to acknowledge the continuing presence of the Holy Spirit.
The service follows a familiar order, usually beginning with a hymn of adoration and praise. We confess our sinfulness, either silently or in a unison prayer. We receive assurance of pardon, either through words of the liturgist or in song. Scripture is read from the Old Testament and the New Testament, and then the senior pastor or another minister interprets the Scripture in a sermon.
Members of the congregation then have opportunity to respond to the Scripture and sermon through an affirmation, such as the Apostles’ Creed. This is the time in the service also for the gathering of offerings and for prayers for the sick, for the church, for the world. Some Sunday services include baptisms or welcoming of new members. On the first Sunday of each month, the Lord’s Supper is celebrated.
